Jan 8 2010 365 Day Challenge

Well, I know this didn't get posted last night but I did get my camera out during the day and take a few photos. The challenge suggestion was something that makes you laugh. Yesterday I actually had a few things that made me laugh but not really something I was able to snag a photo of in the moment. It was a busy day with work, then drive to PA then visit my grandfather and then off to see my niece at her basketball practice and then back home again! Since I did so much yesterday, today will be rewarded with doing nothing....well hopefully nothing more than scrapbooking related stuff lol. (I really want to try and make an overlay for my photos to designate them for the challenge.)

So, my photo of the day has to do with snow. Not the mounds of snow a lot of places have gotten (although I wish we had!) but the individual flakes that fall. When I was leaving work yesterday, the snow was blowing all around. It wasn't the kind that sticks (everything else was too warm) but it was pretty to watch and as I sat in my car letting it warm up I noticed the little flakes landing on my window and thought "What a cool photo that would be." So here is what I got:

Today has started off well with some Saturday morning Beverly Hills 90210 which is always a nice start....we will see where the rest of the day goes!!

365 Day Challenge: Jan 7

So, today's suggestion was to take a photo of your favorite food. I like lots of things but I did take a photo of my new fave snack (as of this week!)....port wine cheese and crackers!

And as promised I figured I would include a few photos from my work. I am sure down the line I won't always have more than one picture but it is really hard for me to be a "one photo gal".
Here is the view from right outside my office door....to the left, right and right in front LOL

What will we see tomorrow....

Jan 6 2010 365 Day Challenge

Well today's prompt was to photograph your work area. I don't really have a good digiscrap work area (other than on the couch with my laptop). But earlier this week I took a picture of my desk at my day job and so today I have a few photos from work as promised to show you more of where I work. And for fun I took a photo of my "space" on the arm chair of my couch where I store my scanner and other laptop related odds and ends so they are easily in reach!

This is my "teacher desk". It is where I stick all my files and its the computer I use for reports and work email and other related items.
(And for the record, I am a PHILADELPHIA EAGLES fan 110%!! I have the Pittsburgh Steelers "Terrible Towel" because it was a friend and co-worker of mine's and he passed away a few years ago so I hang it here now instead of where it was before).
This is a long shot of my area from the doorway entrance into it.
And this is the view out of my office to the "common" area at the front of the room. As it looks my area is a long rectangle and on the other side of the central wall is a replica of my area but for the keyboarding instruction area.

And for fun, here is my couch arm:) You may notice my allergy medicine, my Nintendo DS, my Blackberry and my scanner. And water and external hard drive too!

365 Day Challenge....today's hint, something unique!

I was going to show pics of just my office but today we had a "unique" visitor....the talking gnome! And let me tell you some of the things that came out of his mouth!!

So, here is a picture of my friend with his little buddy:

And here he is with us at laundry tonight (Tuesday is Laundry Night!)

I guess you will all have to wait until tomorrow to see the rest of my office!!

Jan 4 2010

Today I thought it would be fun to take a photo of where I sit during my day job. For those who don't know what I do, I spend my days teaching adults who are blind or visually impaired how to use the Internet with the help of assistive technology. So most of my day is at a desk:)

I actually bring my laptop with me daily b/c then I can sit close to the students and replicate things as needed and take notes and other odds and ends. So my "space" is a bit cluttered but so is my real "teacher desk" area where I keep other things I need and the desktop I use for files and reports and stuff (maybe that can be tomorrow's photo....that could be fun, a photo a day this week of where I work might be a fun theme for the week!)

So, here is where I work:

You can see my computer (with email open all day even though I probably have time to read only a handful of messages in a day!) My schedule and bottles of water and where I take notes and most important my new daily Philadelphia Eagles desk calendar!!

Jan 3 2010

Three days in a row I have been doing ok so far! Baby steps, right? I also went through the blog list and followed a bunch of blogs (if i didn't follow you yet i probably couldn't find where to do it!)

Today's suggestion was things you collect. Well, my husband and I have started to collect MTG cards in the last few months and they are currently every where you look in our living room as we got a great deal on a whole bunch and are still in the process of organizing into books and boxes. So my photo for today is of some of that stuff.

The photo shows some boxes and on the floor to the left are some binders!

Now I am going to get back to organizing what I collect most of....photos!!

My Photo Goals for 2010..

I am a photo fanatic. No question. I love photos. Its in my genes. My great grandmother had scrapbook albums from the early 1900s when it was a lot more work to take a photo and get it developed than it is today with all the digital stuff at our finger tips. I think photos are wonderful to go back and look at and they are great ways to keep history and memories alive. I know some people are not as photo crazy as me and can look at a photo once and be done with it. Not me! I like to look at them again and again and again. Its why I love digital so much because I can have a folder full of photos on my phone or ipod or laptop and look at them anytime I want!

But, with all these photos comes organization and scrapping to be done. I feel like since I started as a Creative Memories consultant a few years ago I have slacked off on my actual scrapbooking b/c I don't go to my friend's house weekly like I did before. I don't know how much longer I will be doing CM anyway but I am hoping maybe I can figure out a way to dedicate some time to actual scrapbooking in 2010 because I am WAY behind in my albums....

So I would like to try and set a few goals for myself. In no particular order because in all honesty its going to come down to time and space for when I do what!

1. Finish 2004-2005 traditional book.
2. Finish 2006 traditional book.
3. Start and finish 2007 digital book.
4. Start and finish 2008 digital book.
5. Start and finish 2009 digital book.
6. Start 2010 digital book in monthly blocks so not have a lot to finish at the end of 2010!
7. Scan in and organize ALL my old photos I can find.
8. Scan in albums of old photos I borrow from my grandfather's house.
9. See if my other grandmother has any old photos I can borrow to scan in.
10. Try and get back into my ancestry stuff by organizing photos and labeling and organizing them and scanning in what needs to be scanned.
11. This may not be photo related but I am going to try and keep my LJ up to date with info and photos too this year-total slacker in 2009-wouldn't even know what happened lol

As I think of more things I will add them for my own save keeping. I have other non-photo goals but this is more that stuff. I spent most of yesterday organizing my digi scrap stuff to a point and backing up my photos so I feel like I am starting 2010 in a good spot.

Jan 2 2010

Today was not much more exciting as I was taking advantage of being home alone for the first time this vacation and finishing the One Tree Hill marathon I started last night (which kept me up until 4am!) I had never watched the show until a few months ago I sucked in because it was on before my weakness...Beverly Hills 90210 on Saturday mornings. So I spent most of the day on the couch watching TV so today I must feature yet another photo of a show. I know it looks bad for the begining of the year to be all photos of my television lol but it will get more interesting as the year progresses....or so I hope!

I did run out today to pick up season 1 of Glee so me and my hubby can have a Glee-a-thon tonight and tomorrow before the Eagles game!!

So here are my pictures....

A scene from BH 90210....
And our new season 1 DVD of Glee!

And I almost forgot...what else would I be doing while watching all this tv?? Scanning and organizing my photos of course!!

And while you can't see those pics too well, that cute little baby is me circa 1976!

Jan 1 2010

So I am going to accept the challenge and try to post a photo a day for 365 days in the year! I know life can get in the way so I can't promise to POST every day but I am going to try!!

Jan 1 2010
I was torn with posting my first photo of the year or what I consider the photo to sum up my day so I am going to post both!

12:01 am watching NYC on TV~
And the countdown to the New Year on my Nintendo DS :)

And my "What I did today" photo. I spent the day watching a Rocky Marathon. I had never seen them all and watching them in order 1-5 was great!!!
Now what is up for tomorrow????
